WindJammer Magazine Advert: Reviews

Magazine Advert

Magazine Advert: Making

A4 paper style, to keep with the conventional magazine advertisement.

We used a colour gradient for our background, giving a light to dark effective, allowing for certain areas to be more eye catching in the finished product. As we plan to use a white font, and so this on the black background will stand out better again the images. The images at the bottom will be darker, and so will also fade into this background. The lighter area at the top will allow for lighter pictures to stand out.

As we began adding our images, we found that leaving them as they were created too much of a bold effect on the images, which didn't suit the look and theme we wanted to achieve, and so we began to change the opacity of the images, which allowed them to blend together much better, giving them a better collage effect.

We arranged the images so that the lighter ones were at the top making them more visible and the darker were at the bottom, which allowed them to blend into the bottom background.

The font we chose, we felt suited out theme well and was not to fancy, so as not to draw away some of the focus from the images, however still bold enough to stand out from a distance.

The information we included is conventional of these magazine adverts, we included the artist and the singles name, as well as what the single was being released on, and the date of release. We also included the artists web addresses, to help a fan base build, and to allow the target market to find out more about the artist and his music.

WindJammer Music Promo: Reviews

Carl Hauck's response:
"I really like the footage you filmed outdoors with you girls in it.  The old family photos are cool too.  The only odd thing for me was seeing someone else lip-syncing the song, but I’m guessing it’s probably fine to other people"

Ancillary Task: Ideas

DigiPak Ideas:

These two images are some tests that we were working on for the front cover of our digipak, we want to use images that relate to the theme and ideas seen in our music promo, which is why for the other images we use, we are keeping within the theme of memories. The leaves are seen a number of times throughout our music promo, and so this object is a theme we would like the keep placing into other elements to do with this single; such as this digipak and the music promo poster so that we have an object connecting all the different elements as well as the original idea of memories relating to the song and the promo. However the image we will use based on these tests, will have a background that is a bit more detailed, possible filled with leaves, to create a more finalised and interesting look.

Magazine Advert Ideas:

We looked at the magazine advert for Florence and the Machines as inspiration for our own magazine ad, we liked the use of the white writing against the black bacground, as it creates a strong effect.
For our magazine article/ advert we are looking into using the idea of collaging a number of different images; helping to relate to the theme of memories seen throughout the music promo, and in the other promotional elements. We feel that having a collage rather than just one image, will allow us to include each and every element we want, creating a much nicer overall effect to the advert. As well as giving it a stand out effect from other adverts around.

I like the range of images seen on this digipak, how on each panel they are different however each image still links together and links with the artist.
